Parker recognized the work of its administrative assistants and support staff on Tuesday, May 8, as part of Administrative Professionals' Day - a worldwide recognition of this multi-layered profession. Administrative Professionals Day, first proclaimed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce in 1952, will mark its 60th anniversary on April 25, 2012. Over those decades, the job of an administrative assistant has changed dramatically, thanks to new tools, techniques and dynamic shifts in the economy and culture. What has remained constant through all changes, however, is that administrative assistants help ensure that jobs are accomplished correctly, on time and within budget. Today, administrative assistants are one of the engines of business, particularly in complex organizations.
